Joint Finance Committee Announces Public Hearings

The Joint Finance Committee announced it will be holding four public hearings on the Governor’s 2015-2017 budget. Those hearings include:

  • Wednesday, March 18th from 10am-5pm at Brillion High School
  • Friday, March 20th from 10am-5pm at Alverno College in Milwaukee
  • Monday, March 23rd from 10am-5pm at UW Barron County in Rice Lake
  • Thursday, March 26th from 9:30am-4pm at CAL Auditorium in Reedsburg

The Tobacco Free Coalition of Central WI is looking for coalition members interested in attending to provide verbal testimony or those members interested in providing written testimony. Please contact Destinee Coenen for more information.

Study Finds Teens Can Easily Buy E-Cigarettes Online

A new study published on March 2, 2015, finds that youth can easily purchase electronic cigarettes from Internet vendors. The study found that only 5 out of 98 attempts by teens to buy e-cigarettes online were blocked by online vendors’ attempts to verify customer age.

Diacetyl found in E-Cigarettes

A new study finds that as many as 70% of sweet-flavored e-cigs contain diacetyl.  According to studies by the National Institute of Occupational Health and Safety, diacetyl can quickly destroy the lungs.
