CWTFC continues to provide support and information to parents and youth advocates regarding JUUL, the new e-cigarette that has increased in popularity among youth recently. Products are being sold in local retail outlets. A one-pager handout on JUUL can be located HERE.

JUUL Causes Concern 

At the national level, the steep rise of JUUL use among teens has caused worry. Recently, 6 leading public health and medical organizations urged the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to take strong and immediate action to address this issue. To read the full story, click HERE.

May is Mental Health Month

What We Know:

  • 1 in 5 adults in the United States have some form of mental health issue
  • 1 in 3 with mental illness smoke
  • Nearly a third of all cigarettes are smoked by adults with mental illness
  • There is a strong correlation between smoking and Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs)
  • The smoking rate for adults who have experienced 4 or more ACEs is 32% compared to the average adult rate of 17%
