The next Central Wisconsin Tobacco Free Coalition meeting will be held on Wednesday, October 14th from 1:30-3:30 PM at the Ruth Gilfry Building in Stevens Point. At our next coalition meeting we will be doing a short strategic planning session and continuing to plan our community event. We welcome any new members to join us!
You’re invited to an event in recognition of the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point for becoming a tobacco free campus. The recognition event will have presentations featuring SPARK, UWSP’s process to become tobacco free, and emerging trends information. Please feel free to invite others that want to attend!
FACT Update
The Wisconsin Rapids FACT Group is back in full swing for the 2015-2016 school year. Just this September members from the group wrote a letter to the editor that was published in the Wisconsin Rapids Daily Tribune. The letter described FACT and three members gave a quote to explain why they are a part of the statewide movement. Great job!

One of our coalition members submitted a letter to the editor to the Wausau Daily Herald discussing how some retailers, including CVS, are deciding to take tobacco products off of their shelves.
Tobacco-Free Retailers Aid in Fight Against Smoking
Our coalition was featured in a story from WSAW-Channel 7 about a resolution that was voted on at the Marathon County Health and Human Services Committee meeting on Thursday, September 24th. The resolution passed through the committee and will be discussed at the upcoming Marathon County Board Meeting in October.

FDA Prohibits Sales of 4 Brands of Cigarettes
On Tuesday, September 15th the FDA used its regulatory authority to stop the sales of four R.J. Reynolds cigarette brands. One of these brands includes Camel Crush Bold.
